Services & Fees

As a biblical-leadership parenting coach, I’ve made it my life’s passion to help other moms and dads learn how to take loving control of their home again and raise godly, respectful and compassionate children. Some parents find what they need by reading my books, articles and other resources, while others have had the opportunity to hear me speak. But many benefit from the hands-on approach I offer as a parenting coach.

What should I expect in a private coaching session?
Each private coaching session begins with an interview-based evaluation of the family filled out by the parents ahead of time. This helps me define your childrearing problem areas and goals. Once that is completed, I work with you on a strategy to solve problems and assist you in becoming a Leadership Parent. The process entails more participation from me on the front end, with that involvement gradually lessening as you become more confident in your own parenting. I am available to answer any questions that occur after completion of the initial plan.

A certified Leadership Parenting™ coach through the John Rosemond Leadership Parenting Institute and a trained biblical parenting coach through the National Center for Biblical Parenting, I offer practical, loving, God-focused solutions to your parenting problems. As a coach, I come alongside you to help you learn successful biblical-leadership parenting behaviors, transforming your parenting and your home by helping you rediscover your leadership role in the home with God at the fore.

In addition to coaching, I have authored Ending Sibling Rivalry: Moving Your Kids From War to Peace, as well as numerous ebooks on parenting and family issues, as well as a number of articles, blogs, webinars and other resources. I am a frequent writer on parenting issues for the Washington Post’s On Parenting blog, as well as one of the featured parent coaches on www.parentguru.com. In addition, I blog and vlog at Patheos under “Some Assembly Required: Raising Self-Reliant and Confident Children.” . In the fall of 2018, I will launch my parenting podcast, “You’ve Got This: Encouraging & Equipping Moms Along Their Parenting Journey.”

I bring a varied background to parent coaching. My parents took in more than 40 foster children during my teen and college years, and I experienced firsthand how traditional parenting worked with a myriad of children from different backgrounds. Today, my husband and I are raising four preteen and teenage girls and boys.

I’m also a parenting speaker for a variety of groups and organizations.

Speaking Topics

A trained presenter for the National Center for Biblical Parenting, I am available to give the center’s “Cooperation, Consequences and Keeping Your Sanity” Seminar: The most common complaint parents have is that their kids don’t follow instructions, but moms and dads can easily learn how to give their kids instructions that their children will follow. This seminar teaches parents how to teach their kids five skills for receiving instructions.

“How to Establish Authority & Speak So Your Children Will Listen.” Provides the groundwork for respect and leadership in your home, plus the seven essential fundamentals of effective discipline.

“How to Raise a Responsible & Resilient Child.” Gives a firm foundation from which to parent while also providing practical ways to teach a child responsibility and resilience.

“Raising a Self-Reliant Child.” Presents concrete ideas on how to teach their children to be self-reliant, one of the best indicators of future success.

“Preparing Your Child for Life Through Conflict Resolution and Teamwork.” Guides parents in how to help their children reduce conflict with siblings and friends, plus provides steps for conflict resolution kids can do on their own.

“A Parent’s Essential Toolbox.” Gives concrete and workable solutions to behavior problems (including school issues) and provides a blueprint of responsibilities for children.

“Parenting With Love and Leadership.” Shows how being a leader in your home lowers stress, raises confidence and increases your chance for success in child-rearing.

“The Well-Behaved Child.” Designed to help parents free their children from the burden of misbehavior; ideal for parents of kids between the ages of 3 and 13.

“Time Management for Busy Moms.” This talk focuses on how you should think about time and includes practical tips for managing your time more wisely.

“Rediscovering Your Talents.” Each one of us has talents, but many times we have trouble figuring out what those abilities might be, especially after having children. This presentation helps parents uncover concrete ways to rediscover—and enjoy—their talents, plus how to turn those talents into work-from-home opportunities.

TESTIMONIALS

Here are things a few of my clients have shared about my coaching assistance

I love the tools that I’ve learned over these weeks with the biblical parent coaching program and have appreciated the way this program is super positive. This helped me see how my seven-year-old son is very reachable—before, I really felt like he was unreachable. This program taught me how to reach him and to reconnect with him.

Carol, Connecticut,

We are extremely grateful for the help Sarah has given us in coaching our four children with the background of a Christian worldview. She was able to quickly assess the primary problems and then gave us practical ideas to help our children in their specific areas of need. We have seen significant improvement in many areas but especially in the area of helping our kids deal with anger. I would highly recommend Sarah to any parent!

Greg & Lianna

Sarah was so easy to work with, very genuine and flexible. She related the strategies personally with examples from her own children and household. We highly recommend working with Sarah.

Frank & Tracy,

We were very encouraged by the progress our high-spirited 8-year-old son made through Sarah’s coaching. The methods she uses is grounded in Scripture and balances well the authority of the parent with the emotional needs of the child. Sarah’s experiential wisdom, practical advice and encouragement aided us in restoring peace to our home. The confidence we gained working with Sarah continues to reap benefits in our parenting style. Thank you Sarah!

Jason & Amy,

Sarah provides practical, easy-to-follow, concrete strategies to frazzled parents, and, best of all, hope. She helped us troubleshoot when the grand plan didn’t go as planned, which happens, and managed to do all of this in a calm, compassionate, non-judgmental manner. She usually signs off with some version of, “You’ve got this” or “You can do this,” and there were days when those words meant everything to me, even when I didn’t believe them myself. Looking back at the changes that have taken place since we worked with Sarah, I’m beginning to think she was right!

Becky,

I was at my wit’s end with my three-year-old son, who had started challenging me at every turn. I reached out to Sarah for guidance on establishing a bedtime routine that did not involve my son getting up every five minutes. Sarah offered me a tried-and-true, practical solution that empowered him with the option of taking control of the situation. He quickly learned that if he opted to get out of bed more than once that there would be a consequence for his actions.

–Tenille, Pennsylvania,

The thought of potty training my son was daunting. I checked out some books from the library on potty training, but after reading them, realized the advice given within was not very sound (who has heard of a toddler being attached to his bowel movement and why should I stop the process of potty training once I’ve started, as suggested by T. Berry Brazelton?!). I was fortunate to discuss potty training with Sarah and was so happy to hear that it doesn’t have to be a difficult process. On her recommendation, I read through John Rosemond’s Toilet Training Without Tantrums in several hours, bought a potty seat that evening, and potty trained my son in a couple weeks. I am so glad I had Sarah’s commonsensical yet empowering advice to help me with potty training.
