On this week’s “You’ve Got This,” I talk with Dr. Kathy Koch about the importance of reaching a child’s heart to help guide a behavior change. Dr. Kathy is the founder and president of Celebrate Kids, Inc., a Christian ministry based in Fort Worth, Texas. She is an internationally celebrated speaker and popular radio guest who has influenced thousands of parents, teachers, and children in 30 countries through keynote messages, workshops, seminars, assemblies, and other events. Her latest book is Start with the Heart: How to Motivate Your Kids to Be Compassionate, Responsible, and Brave (Even When You’re Not Around).
“I think part of the struggle for us is to ask the right question which is: How do I get my children motivation to the right direction?,” Dr. Kathy says. “If we are honest too, sometimes, it’s a reflection of our behavior. We are modeling in front of our children all the time, and so when we see them be impatient, stingy, unkind, could it be that they have noticed us being that way lately?”
