FAQs

Why use a parent coach?

A parenting coach guides you through a process that helps you identify and discuss bad parenting—and learn how to fix it. Whether you are seeking a solution to a single problem, such as a disobedient or willful child, or taking back your house after years of letting your children rule the roost, I come alongside you to guide you to establishing successful behaviors to transform your parenting and your home. Along the way, you’ll also rediscover your leadership role in the home with God at the forefront.

In short, I help both couples and single parents become better parents.

What’s the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?

The difference is between someone who can do something, and someone who has the training and experience to do that same thing professionally. A parent coach can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, and help you become a better mom or dad.

How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?

I always start with a simple “Getting to Know You” questionnaire designed to pinpoint your areas of need and how you want to approach coaching. Because each mom has different issues and goals for parent coaching, I tailor my approach to meet your specific needs–and bring relief to your home quickly.

How long will it take?

Parent coaching is not therapy. During our First Step Call, I will offer my assessment as to how many sessions I think we should spend together to get you where you want to be with your kids. My goal is to provide you with immediate help for your unique situation and to lay a good foundation for you to tackle any future issues on your own.

Please note that parent coaching is not therapy, and Sarah Hamaker is not a licensed counselor or therapist. If you or your children are seeing a counselor, therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist, please inform the professional that you are seeking additional assistance with a parent coach.
